Annotatsiya

This article investigates the relationship between politeness and gender differences from a sociopragmatic perspective. Politeness is regarded as a significant mechanism of interpersonal communication that regulates social relationships, expresses respect, and maintains communicative harmony. The study analyzes the influence of gender on the selection of politeness strategies, linguistic forms, and communicative behavior. The theoretical framework is based on major studies in pragmatics and sociolinguistics, particularly Brown and Levinson’s politeness theory, Lakoff’s theory of women’s language, and contemporary approaches to gendered discourse. The analysis demonstrates that gender differences in politeness are not biologically determined but are shaped by social roles, cultural expectations, power relations, and communicative contexts. The article concludes that politeness strategies represent socially constructed practices reflecting the interaction between gender, culture, and communication.
