Uzbekistan represents a multilingual society in which Uzbek functions as the state language, Russian maintains a significant role in social and institutional communication, and English is increasingly associated with international education, professional mobility, and globalization. This article reviews recent research on code-switching in contemporary Uzbekistan, focusing on Uzbek– Russian bilingual practices and the growing influence of English. Drawing on sociolinguistic, discourse-analytic, and language-policy studies, the review examines structural patterns of code- switching, identity construction, language ideologies, and multilingual communication in educational and digital environments. The findings indicate that Uzbek–Russian code-switching is a systematic and socially meaningful practice shaped by historical, political, and cultural factors. The review also demonstrates that English is becoming increasingly visible in academic, professional, and digital domains, contributing to the development of more complex multilingual repertoires. The article argues that future research should integrate structural, social, and policy-oriented approaches to better understand the evolving multilingual landscape of Uzbekistan.
